Our Community Involvement
Our Club organizes several events each year that are regarded as a valuable community resource.
For those of you not familiar with the Preschool Fair, approximately 50 area preschools and organizations participate each year. Parents circulate in an open-house fashion gathering information and talking to school representatives. Parents who attend the Fair also receive a comprehensive booklet with information about the organizations in attendance. This is an excellent opportunity to interact with schools face-to-face and we hope it assists in the difficult decision about where your child will attend their earliest years of school.
In addition, we collect items to support these local causes on an ongoing basis. Members bring donations to our monthly meetings or coordinate a drop-off with our service project coordinators.
We are proud to be a DC Diaper Bank Ambassador!
We are currently accepting diapers (open or sealed packages of any size) and other necessities for the Baby Pantry. These include new sealed packages of formula, baby food, pouches, shampoo, baby wash, diaper cream, toothbrushes and other new hygiene items. Please see this flier for a complete list of items needed.
Providing First Night Care Packages for Foster Children
These care packages are given to kids on the first night that they enter foster care. As you can envision this can be a terrifying first night. MOMS Club purchases the items for the care package, which includes necessities such as toiletries, in addition to comforts such as slippers, pajamas, stuffed animals, books, etc. Our members help by offering ideas for what to include in the care packages and assist with the buying of these items, the bundling of the care packages and delivering them.
Filling the Alexandria Book Shelf
The Alexandria Book Shelf helps to provide children in need with books and access to books where they live, play and go to school. You can help by donating used (or new) books. Please bring any books you may like to contribute to the meetings and we will deliver to the program. Learn more about Alexandria Book Shelf here.
